On the bandwagon…

I feel like residents of Seattle have jumped headfirst on the bandwagon to support the Seattle Seahawks. The football team isn’t great… they were the only team that had a losing record and still made the playoffs. They’ve been awful for years. The stadium is beautiful but the Seattle faithful haven’t been able to rally around the Seahawks in a few years.

This year, they made the playoffs because their conference was weak. They were 7 and 9 and still somehow got in. Yet, talk to anyone in Seattle and the Seahawks are now the best team ever! They are definitely going to win the superbowl! My husband and I are not from this area and just laugh. Seattle calls it the ‘12th man‘, the fans are the 12th man on the field to support the team. The Space Needle has a ’12th man’ flag flying high. Again, we just laugh!

We were watching another football game yesterday with friends and one of the girls is a buyer for baby and toddler outfits at a major department store. I asked her about the popularity of tutus for 2011, thinking maybe they were on the way out. She lit up and said she had just done an article on tutus… they are as popular as ever and not going anywhere anytime soon.

Stork Deliveries by April wants you to jump on the bandwagon for your little princess! We have these adorable tutus in size 12-18 months: I love them because you can personalize the white bodice to create a special outfit for your baby girl. Have her name embroidered or a short message (such as Mom’s Princess or Daddy’s Little Girl). Have a patch embroidered like an ice cream cone or birthday present with ‘Sophie’s 1st Birthday’ written beside it. The ribbon tutu outfit itself is adorable but for just a slight extra fee, this outfit can be anything you want it to!

Jump on the amazing tutu bandwagon (it’s actually worth getting on this bandwagon). They’re not just for ballerinas anymore! Visit us at Stork Deliveries by April to order or email me with any questions. We look forward to helping your tiny dance twirl into the 2011 tutu craze!

The meaning of FREE

When is the last time you received something for free? Seriously, don’t count your birthday or Christmas or any other ‘gift’. When did you last receive a FREE product from a random company? (your best friend’s company doesn’t count)

Stork Deliveries by April has gotten off to a wonderful start. In order to continue to grow our business, we’re having a FREE bib giveaway. The prize is a bib of your choice (selection includes collegiate bibs from Ohio State, Georgia, Penn State, LSU, Auburn and Alabama or a general All Boy Football Bib by Mud Pie). And by FREE, we mean free – the bib will be no cost to you; we’ll even cover shipping!

If you’re like me, you are wondering what you have to do and if this is too good to be true :). No – it’s simple. Just take a picture of your newborn – 18 month old (or any baby for that matter) in collegiate attire and post it on the Stork Deliveries by April Facebook Fan Page. We’ll then enter your name into a drawing and the winner receives the free bib! Even if your little one doesn’t wear bibs anymore or if you don’t like the collegiate teams selected, this would make a great gift!

Most things in life are not free. Stork Deliveries by April wants to succeed! We’re a new business and still (as always) cultivating customers but we want to go places. Help us out by posting a picture on our Facebook fan page and perhaps even winning a FREE bib!

The ‘BIG’ Game

It’s Saturday morning on the west coast… I LOVE lying on the couch with a cup of coffee at 9 AM watching Penn State and other football games! That truly is one of the best things about the west coast – sports start earlier and finish earlier. No more staying up until 12:30 – 1 AM watching your favorite team play late. Football all day!

Last week Penn State played number 1 Alabama and lost terribly. This week, Coach Lou from ESPN has picked Penn State to be upset by Kent State (very small school). His reason? Penn State poured their heart and soul into playing Alabama and came up short.

They are tired, beat up and facing a team that most would call a lower opponent this week. They probably didn’t put quite as much effort into practicing for Kent State and that may show today. I have 1 name for you Coach Lou – Joe Pa. He’ll whip Penn State into shape! I want a victory!

I wonder if that is a life lesson though. Take a son or daughter’s little league game. They may pour everything into a certain game… what happens if they come up short? Take a promotion at work. What happens if you sacrifice everything for that promotion and don’t get it? Take cancer (remember October is breast cancer awareness month). What happens if your focus every ounce of prayer and positive thinking to chemo working… and then it doesn’t?

Of course life is easier if everything works the first time! If the game is won, the promotion achieved and cancer is destroyed, success is quick and seems easier. We like it that way. Perhaps the true definition of success is not reaching our goal at first but taking those feelings and channeling them into an overall positive experience. Such as – using that lost game to teach your son and daughter to lose graciously, focus their attention on next week’s game and kick butt the rest of the season! Such as continuing the extra work you put into trying for the promotion and having your boss notice you for the next (and probably better) promotion. Such as leaning on your family and their support, developing your faith and trusting that God is in control not only of your cancer but of life overall.

The ‘BIG’ game… the ‘BIG’ promotion… the ‘BIG’ life obstacle… do your best to achieve victory the first time. If it doesn’t work, do what I was taught as a kid – ‘try, try and try again’. Keep the faith and continue to put in the effort.

While Stork Deliveries by April is waiting on our shipment of collegiate football baby products to arrive, we want to focus on the week after the ‘BIG’ game. Collect yourself from the loss, grieve as needed, put in that continued hard work and keep trying. Let last week’s loss be the only that sets you back.

While I’m watching Penn State this morning, remember to take pictures of your newborn – 18 month old in any collegiate attire! Post those pictures to the Stork Deliveries by April Facebook Fan Page between Sept 24 – Oct 1 and be entered into our FREE Bib Giveaway!

O Christmas Tree

Is it too early?! I’m laughing… I love the Christmas holidays enough I could celebrate them all year long. However, if you have something at your fingertips every day, it may not be quite as special.

Take family – I just read a blog that reminded me family is important. It seems simple but they love you and they are always there for you. Sometimes, you take that for granted. BUT they are really the most important! You cannot allow the thought of ‘they’ll be there tomorrow’ fall prey to ‘my job’ or ‘my schedule’.

The song ‘O Christmas Tree’ is German in nature. I love the German philosophy that anyone is family. Take their pubs for example, the table may be full and you may be alone but you’re still welcome. Everyone slides a little closer to their neighbor to welcome you!

Stork Deliveries by April isn’t pushing our Christmas products yet but have to share this picture of one of the cutest Christmas bibs we’ve ever seen. We just received a few of the bibs in stock and are hoping to sell them before the holidays ring in completely. Size 0-6 months only so order now for babies due during the next few months!

So while you’re enjoying being lazy and watching football games, make your family a priority. Start thinking of the holidays and how you can be together. It’s not the food or the party or the dates; family is treasuring any time you have together and making the most of it. And, in the Tree Pique Bib, your little angel can still be the ‘star’ of the party!

Game Day!

In the great northwest, the weather is cool and the rain is back. You just want to curl up on the couch with a fire going… and watch football! There is a BIG game on Saturday – Penn State vs. Alabama. It is the first time the two schools have faced one another since 1990 (when Penn State won by the way). Now this may not be a big game for everyone but when your husband is a HUGE Penn State fan, you understand!

Number 18 vs. Number 1. Big 10 vs. SEC. A current coaching legend in Joe Paterno vs. past coaching legends like Bear Bryant. Both schools have a rich history in tradition and in football. Both schools carry a substantial and an intense fan base. I love game day! And because I cannot help but to cheer for the underdog (and because my husband’s team has become my own) – Go Nittany Lions!

In our online business for personalized baby gifts, Stork Deliveries by April, we simply had to integrate our love of sports and football! The All Boy Football products include 3 piece sets, football bibs, burp cloths and football socks. We’ve just ordered collegiate football products – the starting list includes Penn State, Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU and Auburn. These products include bibs (one size fits all) and a newborn package – booties and a knit hat. See a few sample pictures below…

If you have friends/family that are expecting during football season (and are fans of the schools above), this newborn package is an incredible gift – and easy for you… just order and have it delivered to your front door! It will be a unique and special hospital gift. Consider the bib or other football products if your college is not yet represented.
